As the world's financial crisis becomes an economic crisis, and as greed is overtaken by poverty, there is now open and voluble concern that the next leg down will be social collapse. The suburban model of civility based on a world of plenty may well disintegrate as it becomes seen as the top rung of a food chain who's links are breaking down. As primary resources become more important than gadgets, how is an individual or family to survive this shattered dream?
It may, of course, never happen. We might be able to pull out of the dive. If we're lucky, we may even avoid another war - assuming you live in a country that doesn't already have one. But our priorities will need to change. What we value as human beings needs to be re-evaluated. This is not, in itself, a conspiracy blog - you can go to A World Beyond Belief to find a host of blogs from disbelievers in religion, politics, military and NWO. This blog is not specifically about financial survival - you can visit High Yield Times and Market Noise for that. It is not even about how to make a few extra bucks online - you can visit On Writing Online for that.
What this Social Collapse blog is about is exploring how people's lives are changing and how they can make the best of a dire situation. The internet has not yet been disconnected so people from all over the world can see how their fellow humans are coping in different countries. Social structures are very different across the globe and lessons can be learnt from past social collapses. The forces that seem hell-bent on destroying the individual need to know that there is a defence. If the individual feels powerless then perhaps there is strength in numbers.
Survive and Prosper.
